RALEIGH, N.C. — It is official. November 2nd is now "John Wall Day" in Raleigh North Carolina. On Saturday morning, members of the Raleigh community gathered to celebrate the retiring of John Wall’s High School number 11. Raleigh City Councilman Corey Branch was in attendance to announced that November 2 has been proclaimed John Wall Day in the City of Raleigh. According to John’s sister, he was unable to attend the event due to a family issue. Word of God Christian Academy (WOGCA), one of the finest parochial schools in Raleigh was honored to celebrate its own former alumnus.
John Wall graduated from Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh North Carolina and has made his City of Raleigh proud by being a Franchise Basketball Player for the Washington Wizards for nine years in the National Basketball Association. He is also a perennial all-star. In his senior year, Wall averaged 19.7 points, 9 assists, and over 8 rebounds for Word of God Christian Academy and was ranked one of the best high school basketball players in the class of that year.
Wall has formed the John Wall Family Foundation which continues to help our community, impacting over 3,000 lives per year by supporting back to school drives and feeding the homeless throughout the year and providing youth basketball support in our city.
All proceeds from John Wall Day will go towards the scholarship presented by WOGCA in John Wall's honor; The Francis Pulley Scholarship named after his mother.
